I’m testing out different promotion strategies, so that people find out about How to Write a Kindle Ebook. One strategy is to use a KDP Free Book Promotion.
KDP Free Book Promotion
I ran a KDP Free Book Promotion on 19th April 2020, and told five people about it. The idea was that a few family members and friends could download the book for free, read it, and write reviews.
In the event, the book was downloaded 24 times. I count that as a success – even though it hasn’t made me any money.
Where did the extra nineteen people find out about it? I tweeted about the Free Book Promotion, but I’ve only just started the Twitter account, so it’s unlikely that’s what spread the word.
My best guess is that they saw it directly on Amazon. Maybe some Amazon customers go looking for free offers.
Another Free Book Promotion on 24th April saw How to Write a Kindle Ebook being downloaded 15 times.
The goal of giving the book away is to get some reviews. I’ll report back on how that’s going in a few weeks’ time.
